Terms of service

These terms govern the use of Lane. By using the app or this site you accept them. We have written them as plainly as we could, avoiding the kind of language nobody reads.

What Lane is

lane is a technology platform that connects people who need a journey or an errand with authorised professional operators (taxi, chauffeur services, transport companies, public bodies). lane does not carry out transport itself and holds no transport licences: the service is performed by the operator who takes it on, under its own responsibility and its own authorisations.

Your account

Booking requires an account with accurate, up-to-date details, in particular a phone number you can be reached on: the driver needs it to find you. Keep your account secure and tell us if you think someone else is using it.

Bookings and price

The price is calculated in advance and shown in the app: by confirming the request you accept that amount. If during the service you ask for something different from what you stated — another destination, an extra stop, waiting time — the price may change accordingly.

Payments

You can pay the driver in cash or pay online in the app. Electronic payments are handled by specialist third-party providers under their own terms. The receipt remains available in your history.

Cancellations

You can cancel a request in the app until the service has started. The conditions applied to late cancellations or no-shows may vary depending on the operator that took on the service.

How to behave

We ask for respect towards the driver and the vehicle. Always declare pets, bulky luggage and particular needs in advance. Carrying items prohibited by law is not allowed, nor is behaviour that puts the safety of those on board at risk.

Errands and parcels

Whoever hands over an item is responsible for its contents. Items prohibited by law, dangerous goods, cash, and undeclared documents or valuables may not be sent. We reserve the right to refuse a job where the contents do not comply with these terms.

Liability

We are answerable for the proper functioning of the platform. Performing the journey or the errand, and what follows from it, is the responsibility of the operator carrying it out and of its staff, under the insurance and authorisations that the law requires for their activity.

Account suspension

We may suspend or close an account in cases of misuse of the platform, dangerous behaviour or repeated breaches of these terms.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the law of the Republic of San Marino. The courts of the Republic of San Marino have jurisdiction, without prejudice to the mandatory protections available to consumers.

Changes

We may update these terms: the version in force is always the one published here, with the update date at the top of the page.
